Nepal and Oman have unveiled their squads for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, with both teams gearing up for the pinnacle event in the shortest format of cricket. Aqib Ilyas has been appointed as Oman’s new captain, stepping into the shoes of Zeeshan Maqsood. This change in leadership signals Oman’s commitment to fresh strategies as they eye success on the global stage.

While the core of Oman’s squad remains intact, the addition of Shoaib Khan adds depth to their lineup. Notably, Jatinder Singh and Samay Shrivastav have been named among the reserves, showcasing Oman’s bench strength. Kashyap Prajapati and Naseem Khushi are expected to form a formidable opening partnership, setting the stage for Ilyas and Zeeshan to anchor the middle order.

In terms of bowling prowess, Bilal Khan will lead the attack with his lethal yorkers, supported by the likes of Kaleemullah, Fayyaz Butt, and Shakeel Ahmad. The versatility of Ilyas and Zeeshan, who can also contribute with the ball, adds a tactical advantage to Oman’s arsenal.

Expressing his honor and sense of responsibility in his new role, Ilyas is determined to lead Oman to victories in the tournament. Oman find themselves in Group B alongside cricketing powerhouses like Australia and England, making their campaign an exciting challenge right from the start.

Oman’s journey kicks off on June 2 against Namibia in Barbados, where they will aim to make a strong statement of intent. The squad, led by Ilyas, comprises a blend of experience and emerging talent, underlining Oman’s ambitions in the T20 World Cup.
