It has been more than a decade since the cricket fans last witnessed Indo-Pak bilateral cricket. The arch-rivals India and Pakistan now only squads off against each other in the ICC or ACC events.
Considering the craze of fans for Indo-Pak cricket all across the world, Cricket Australia (CA) has made yet another effort to revive the cricketing ties across the borders. Just like last year, they have proposed a tri-nation series including themselves, India and Pakistan.
Peter Roch, the operations managed of the CA was quoted as saying by a reliant source:
“It’s fair to say that every country in the world would love to see India & Pakistan competing in their country. We’re on record as saying that we’re one of those countries that have asked the question. There’s no room in our schedule to do that at the moment, but we’ll keep talking to them & consider any other opportunities that arise.”
While the PCB has often shown interest in resuming cricket ties with India, there always has been a denial from the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI). The last time the two teams met was in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India when the hosts defeated the men in green.
Their last bilateral series was back in 2012 when Pakistan defeated India. Since then, the fans have been only able to see their favourite rivalry in World Cups, Asia Cups, and Champions Trophies.
As June approaches, India and Pakistan are slated to lock horns with each other on June 9th as T20 World Cup 2024 looms. It remains to be seen how the two boards will react to CA’s offer to host the tri-nation series.
