PSL 2024: Why everything is pink during PZ vs MS match?

The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024) season 9 is shining a spotlight on breast cancer awareness through its dedicated ‘Pink Ribbon Day,’ an initiative led by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The match between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans on March 5 at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi is serving as a platform to raise awareness about this important cause.

Both teams have donned pink ribbons and caps, symbolizing solidarity with breast cancer fighters and survivors. Commentators in the booth are also sporting pink ribbons, while messages advocating breast cancer awareness flash across the big screens, aiming to educate and inspire the masses.

In a collaborative effort, the PSL has joined forces with Pink Ribbon Pakistan, utilizing the league’s wide reach to spread crucial information about breast cancer prevention and early detection.

Looking ahead, March 12 will mark ‘Gold Ribbon Day’ during the game between Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. This occasion will shed light on childhood cancer, with players and commentators donning gold ribbons and caps. Additionally, four cancer patients will have the honor of attending the event, receiving signed shirts from both participating teams.

Amidst these initiatives, Multan Sultans have already secured their place in the PSL 9 playoffs with a convincing victory over the Karachi Kings. Currently, in the ongoing match against Peshawar Zalmi, the latter batted first and posted a formidable total of 204/5.

As the match unfolds at the time of writing this, Multan Sultans, led by Mohammad Rizwan, find themselves chasing 80 runs in 27 balls to secure another victory. The team currently leads the standings with 12 points in seven matches, while Peshawar Zalmi, under the leadership of Babar Azam, occupies the fourth spot with seven points from as many matches.
