T20 World Cup 2024: Misbah-ul-Haq reveals middle-order for Pakistan

Former Pakistani cricketer Misbah-ul-Haq has offered insights into his preferred choices for Pakistan’s middle order lineup for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, set to be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, commencing from June 1st. As the event marks the first time the USA will host international cricket matches, Pakistan find itself placed in Group A alongside opponents such as India, Ireland, Canada, and the USA.

Misbah-ul-Haq, who previously held roles as the chief selector and coach of the Pakistani team, expressed his thoughts on the team composition, stating, “Potentially the names I’m seeing are simple. Agha Salman is there, Azam Khan is there, Iftikhar Ahmed is there, and Shadab Khan is there. Regarding Fakhar, you’re already thinking about him,” shedding light on the players he believes could bolster the team’s middle-order strength.

Furthermore, Misbah-ul-Haq delved into the strategy for Pakistan’s top order, emphasizing the importance of balance and flexibility. “You know the top three: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Saim Ayub. I think Saim is at the top, then you should either place Babar at three or open with him, or let Rizwan play at three or open. Saim should be the opener because you need a left-hand, right-hand combination,” he remarked, outlining his preferred batting lineup for the team.

Amidst the anticipation surrounding the high-stakes clash between Pakistan and India scheduled for June 9th in New York, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the spectacle, which promises to be a highlight of the tournament. As Pakistan gears up for the T20 World Cup, Misbah-ul-Haq’s insights offer valuable perspectives on the team’s strategy and player selection, igniting excitement among fans as they await the marquee event.
