- Despite PSL tease from Pakistani skipper Shan Masood, Warner’s absence from PSL 9 draft raises questions about his 2024 participation. What’s next for the Australian star?
As the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024) looms on the horizon, cricket enthusiasts are left wondering: Will David Warner grace the PSL stage in 2024? The question has lingered since unofficial reports began circulating a few months ago, suggesting that the Australian cricketer might make an appearance in the upcoming season.
Recently, Warner bid farewell to ODIs and Tests, concluding his illustrious career with a memorable career in the Sydney Test against Pakistan. However, the cricketing world was reassured that Warner’s cricketing journey was far from over, as he announced his intent to continue playing T20Is. With the T20 World Cup 2024 on the horizon, Warner remains a key figure in Australia’s T20 plans.
The intrigue deepens as Warner stepped onto the field for the first match of the 2024 Big Bash League (BBL) season, representing the Sydney Thunder. Cricket Australia has secured his services for the West Indies series, which includes three T20Is, followed by T20Is against New Zealand in preparation for the World Cup. Although he is signed for the second season of the International League T20 (ILT20 2024), the cricket board emphasizes Warner’s commitment to national duties, leaving the extent of his participation in ILT20 uncertain.
Adding to the suspense, Pakistani skipper Shan Masood, after Warner’s farewell Test, teased the possibility of seeing him in the PSL. “Shall see you in the PSL,” Shan told Warner, expressing appreciation for the departing cricketer.
However, with the recent PSL 9 draft taking place in December and Warner’s absence from any squad, it appears that the Australian star won’t be gracing the PSL stage in 2024. The uncertainty lingers about Warner’s participation in future PSL seasons, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the enigmatic career of David Warner.
