Men’s central contract list has been announced today. This central contract will be from June 2023-June 2026. The tenure of this central contract is three years.
There is about 50% increase in central contract lf players. The list consists of 25 players with four categories A, B, C and D. Some new players are awarded the central contract while some players have been dropped from central contract.
Red and white ball contracts have been merged. In the last year’s central contract, the red and white ball players list was separate but in this central contract there is a single list of red and white ball players. The players in central contract are:
Category A: Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Muhammad Rizwan.
Category B: Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Imam ul Haq, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman and Muhammad Nawaz.
Category C: Imad Wasim and Abdullah Shafique.
Category D: Fahim Ashraf, Hassan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmad, Ihsanullah, Muhammad Haris, Muhammad Wasim Jr, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmad, Saud Shakeel, Shahnawaz Dhani, Usama Mir, Zaman Khan and Shan Masood.
Pakistani captain Babar Azam on central contract said:
It is by far a historic deal. I am extremely happy and satisfied that we have reached an agreement with the PCB. It has been a lengthy and, at times, challenging negotiation process, but I believe we have reached a fair and beneficial agreement for both parties.
Some new player such as Saim Ayub, Ihsanullah, Zaman Khan and Saud Shakeel have been added to central contract. While some players such as Yasir Shah, Abid Ali have been dropped.
Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Muhammad Rizwan became successful in convincing PCB. These A category players will be paid 4.2 million. B category players will be paid 3 million.
Every central contract player will be allowed to play only 2 leagues in one year. If central contract players play a domestic match, they will be given 50% of international match fees.
