Tom Moody, the Director of the ILT20 franchise Desert Vipers, has confirmed that he has not been contacted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the coaching position of the national team. In an interview with Cricket Pakistan, he said, “No, I didn’t have any contact with the PCB regarding that, and you know, with what I have in front of me, it probably is something that I will be looking at.”
When asked about the absence of Pakistani cricketers in the ongoing ILT20 league, Tom Moody expressed his disappointment, stating that the league misses out on the quality that Pakistani players bring. He said, “It is a pity that Pakistan cricketers are not participating in ILT20; they add to the quality of any league; unfortunately, NOCs cannot be obtained for them. The situation will change.”
When asked about the strengths of his team, Tom Moody highlighted several key players, including Colin Munro, Vanandu Hasaranga, Alex Hales, and Tom Curran, all capable of contributing to the team’s victories. He also praised the coaching services of former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mehmood, saying that he understands the conditions in the UAE well and can do a lot to improve the team’s bowling.
Tom Moody also highlighted the benefits of participating in the ILT20 league for local players, saying that playing high-quality franchise cricket under the guidance of great coaches will enhance their skills. He also mentioned that this league could play an important role in developing talent and compared it to the IPL matches which were hosted in UAE in the past.
