As scheduled, the player draft for the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 8) did not take place on 18th November and continues to face delay. The team owners of the PSL find it ‘mismanagement of the Pakistan Cricket Board’ as the body could not host the event on the given date.
It has been heard that the owners tried contacting the board in regard, but all PCB responded was about cancellation and rescheduling of the draft. The board also informed that as soon there is a new date elected for PSL 8 draft, the media will be informed through official mediums.
It has been heard that top management associated with several franchises is unavailable to attend the draft. In their place, some other representatives will be part of it. Moreover, the engagement of PCB stakeholders elsewhere is the core reason why the PSL 8 draft is facing continual delay.
Having said to be held in the third week of November, the week is almost passed by. The reliable cricket channels have disclosed 30th November as the new date to look out for the PSL 8 draft. Where the release and retention process is down and dusted, everyone now anticipates the final line-ups.
It is pertinent to mention here that the marquee T20 tournament is expected to run from 9th February to 19th March next year across several cities of the cricket-loving nation. Before the release and retention process, the PCB revealed the pick order for the Player Draft, with Lahore Qalandars having the first pick.
