The much-anticipated ICC t20 World Cup 2022 final is all set to witness Pakistan and England locking horns with each other this Sunday. Just like the ODI World Cup 1992 final, history could repeat itself if Babar Azam and co manage to conquer the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). However, rain is likely to destroy the big day.
According to weather forecasts, there is a hundred per cent chance of rain alongside heavy thunderstorms, which assumably will affect the match. According to ICC’s latest rules for the World Cup final, a minimum of 10-over game for each side must be played to conclude any results. Nevertheless, with high chances of cats n dogs weather at the location, the trophy might be seen shared between the two.
Although the council has booked a reserved day at MCG to decide the T20 World Cup 2022 final winners, the reserved day too is likely to be washed away with the weather not falling in Pak vs Eng’s favour. According to Geo Super,
“If forced to reschedule, the match would start at 3 p.m. (0400 GMT) on Monday, with players and officials on notice to be prepared to play well into the evening if the weather forces it.”
It is pertinent to mention here that England overpowered India in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2022 at Adelaide Oval on Thursday. On the other hand, Pakistan defeated New Zealand in the first semifinal, which took place at Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday. Both the losing teams flew back home unluckily while Jos Buttler’s and Babar Azam’s men got their tickets to the final.
15-25mm on Sunday and 5-10mm rain predicted on Monday at Melbourne. According to australian media, ICC is expected to give some flexibility in rules inorder to make final of T20 WorldCup happen subject to agreement by Pakistan and England. Venue will not change. #T20WorldCupFinal
