After Shahid Afridi’s statements regarding Shaheen Shah Afridi’s rehabilitation went viral, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) strongly responded, contradicting his statements.
According to former Afridi’s claims, injured Shaheen has been looking after his rehab expenditures in London, with the doctor being arranged by Shahid. He mentioned on Samaa Channel that PCB has not been handling the pacer’s injury expenses.
“Shaheen went to England for rehabilitation at his own expense. I arranged him a doctor there, and he contacted him. PCB is providing nothing to Shaheen,”
Reacting to the former cricketer’s statements, Ramiz Raja questioned if there is any way the board can refuse its potential players’ necessities alongside Shaheen. He quoted the example of Mohammad Rizwan’s injury, which was handled by the board.
“How can PCB leave Shaheen alone at this time? PCB made efforts for Rizwan when he got an injury during the last T20 World Cup. I think clarification was needed at this moment to avoid unnecessary controversy,”
Shaheen had to leave Dubai at the earliest. I think there was some ticket issue. In London, he left one hotel because he didn’t like it,
He further mentioned taking clarification from the players who have been looked after by the board for their rehab and recovery processes. Ramiz believes clarification after ‘baseless’ statements was necessary from the board to avoid useless controversies.
“We didn’t leave our players alone. Ask our players how many facilities they are getting. Not only international players, but we are also providing the best facilities to our domestic players too,”
