Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced their squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022, set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The board took it to their social media accounts to name a 17-player squad, which will tackle the opening game of the event against the hosts, Sri Lanka.
Although the Asia Cup 2022 has been shifted to the UAE amidst Sri Lanka’s political and economic crisis, but the SLC is yet the host of the event. This time, the Asia Cup will be played in a T20 format and will run between August 27th and September 11th.
The six teams, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and one of the Qualifiers, Hong Kong, Kuwait, UAE, or Singapore, will take part in the event. Notably, Afghanistan are placed in Group B alongside Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The players including Najibullah Zadran, Afsar Zazai, Azmatullah Omarzai, Farid Ahmad Malik, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Hazratullah Zazai, Ibrahim Zadran, Karim Janat, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Najibullah Zadran, Naveen ul Haq, Noor Ahmad, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rashid Khan, and Samiullah Shinwari will play under the leadership of Mohammad Nabi.
Standby players: Nijat Masood, Qais Ahmed, Sharafuddin Ashraf.

Earlier, Pakistan and India named their squads for Asia Cup 2022, followed by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announcing its team, solving the issues with Shakib Al Hasan. Sri Lanka are yet to announce their squad.
