Former Pakistani opener Yasir Hameed thinks Pakistan’s middle-order batter Asif Ali is not consistent with his game. Quoting the example of England players who take charge of their duties being X-factor, he says Asif should do the same.
Hameed, who was banned by the board for giving an interview to an undercover reporter, narrates Asif hardly wins 5% of the matches from a total of 100%. He believes there is a need to start performing to win big games for Pakistan.
In recent Pakistan vs England 6th T20I, England’s batters’ terrific showcase won them the match. In powerplay, they amassed 80+ runs, becoming the first team to gather this much number of runs against Pakistan in a T20I powerplay. Whereas Pakistan’s obsolete batting, apart from doing wonders in a few games, collides often.
Yasir feels the men in green have very few match-winners. While talking to the media, he further mentioned that the board should work on its batters to make them the batting demons. He, who feels both batting and bowling can win Pakistan the matches, was quoted as saying,
“You can’t predict a winner in the T20 format. You just have to see how many match-winners you have and how many x-factors do you have in your team,”
“England played Salt consistently because he has is an x-factor for them. He delivered for them in the last game. For us, we have Asif Ali in that role, but he hasn’t delivered consistently for Pakistan. With his current form, he can win us only five matches out of 100, which is a low percentage. Asif needs to start delivering consistently for Pakistan.”
