Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has launched his biopic- “RAWALPINDI EXPRESS- Running against the odds.”
The world’s fastest pace bowler, Shoaib Akhtar has decided to narrate his story in the form of a biopic and will be the first Pakistani sportsman to do so. This biopic is directed by Muhammad Faraz Qaiser, who said that this idea came to him in 2016, so it is like a dream come true for him.
“An idea that came in 2016, has finally come to life. The poster for my first feature film is now out!” wrote the director on his Instagram story.“
An international project by Q Film Productions [and the] first foreign film about a Pakistani sportsman,” he said.
Shoaib has served the green team with his excellent bowling in all the three formats. He has taken over 178 wickets in Tests, 247 wickets in ODIs, and 19 wickets in T20 Internationals. He was nicknamed “Rawalpindi Express” for being one of the fastest bowlers of all time.
Sharing news about his biopic he tweeted on Sunday where he shared his film’s poster and teaser saying:
“Beginning of this beautiful journey. Announcing the launch of my story, my life, my Biopic, RAWALPINDI EXPRESS – Running against the odds. You’re in for a ride you’ve never taken before. First foreign film about a Pakistani Sportsman. Controversially yours, Shoaib Akhtar,” wrote Akhtar on Twitter.
The short clip of the teaser featured a frame with train tracks at the centre and Akhtar’s character who had his back facing the camera while running. As the camera zoomed in on him, his jersey with number 14 covering the whole screen where a train siren could be heard in the background but the locomotive was not seen.
At the end of the teaser, the release date of the film was projected which was on November 16, 2023. Further details are yet to be uncovered.
