The second edition of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL 2022) is revolving just around the corner, and all franchises are taking measures to make it the second-hyped league in Pakistan after the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
With the recent developments coming every new day, it has been confirmed that Ahmed Shehzad will lead the title defenders, Rawalakot Hawks, in the KPL 2. In the inaugural edition, the franchise was led by Shahid Afridi, who has been roped in by Jammu Janbaz for the upcoming edition.
Hawks lifted the maiden trophy in KPL 1 under Afridi’s leadership, overpowering Mohammad Hafeez’s Muzaffarabad Tigers in the grand finale. The team is now all set to showcase its potential under Ahmed, the discarded Pakistani cricketer.
Shehzad made his international debut in 2009 and has played 13 Tests, 81 ODIs, and 59 T20Is, amassing 982, 2605, and 1471 runs, respectively. He has been seen nowhere around the national fold since 2019. For the reason, the batter has raised his voice on multiple occasions.
He has been making headlines, accusing Waqar Younis of demolishing his career. In one of the recent interviews, Shahid Afridi asked him to focus on making runs, to which he responded if he should score at home, getting no chance to play.
It must be noted the second edition of KPL will get underway on 13th August, winding up on 26th August. It will once again rock the Muzaffarabad stadium but this time, with seven teams, as Jammu Janbaz are all set to make their debut.
