Pakistan Cricket Team ended their Asia Cup 2022 regime on a good note as the runner-ups; however, a few unstable performances have caught an eye throughout the tournament. Apart from one or two durable showcases, the middle-order woes continued during the event.
After dismal performances against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022 final, massive changes in the squad for Pakistan vs England series are expected. Not only the middle-order striving but the pacers were seen struggling on multiple occasions due to cramps.
Following the poor fitness level, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have reportedly decided to replace injured and unfit players with potential candidates. A formulated squad is likely to tackle England in the seven-match T20I series, to be played at green’s home.
According to multiple journalists, wicket-keeping batter Mohammad Rizwan might be rested. There is a clash between former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and youngster Mohammad Haris to replace Rizwan as the wicketkeeper.
Moreover, the addition of Shan Masood, who has recently inspired by his domestic stint, is likely to be added to the top order. If Masood makes it to the squad, out-of-form Fakhar Zaman will be able to play at his natural position rather than one down.
Middle-order batter Khushdil Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed will undoubtedly be dropped due to continuous poor performances. It must be noted that England will arrive in Karachi between 14 and 15 September.
