Faf du Plessis, the VICTORIOUS skipper of Saint Lucia Kings, says that it was a good weekend for them. Mentions that they are getting better and better and it's a good thing for them. Tells that it is good to see Chase putting runs for the team and is happy for his fifty. Adds that he took a chance with Royal to open the bowling and was impressed with his performance. Says that it is a long way ahead and it is important for them to play as a team and take it match by match.
Chris Gayle, the skipper of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, says that he is very disappointed with their batting effort and they should have done much better in this game. Tells that this loss will make them a bit hungrier. Adds that they did create chances in this game but they were not able to hold on to those. Signs off by saying that hopefully these are just two bad games for them and they will come back stronger in the next game.
ROSTON CHASE has been awarded the Man of the Match for his unbeaten fifty. He says that it was an easier task at hand. Mentions that the wicket was a lot easier to bat on and that helped him a lot. Tells that he had to go for Gayle's catch as they know how destructive he can get. Adds that the guys are showing their abilities and hopes they can make it through to the playoffs.
... THE PRESENTATION CEREMONY ...
Earlier in the day, Saint Lucia bowled like Kings to restrict the Patriots. St Kitts barely got going and it was only Devon Thomas at the top who could offer some resistance. They were gone for all money at 83/8 but a Fabian Allen cameo gave his bowlers something to defend. In an all-round bowling show, Jeavor Royal struck gold, with 3 wickets, of which, one was that of the in-form Evin Lewis. Please stay tuned for the presentation ceremony...
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots' bowlers had a very small total to defend but they started well with the ball with Fabian Allen leading from the front by taking a wicket in the very first over of the innings. Other bowlers did not manage to maintain that sort of pressure on Saint Lucia Kings' batters and leaked runs. Paul van Meekeren and Naseem Shah got into the wickets column but in the end, 118 proved to be a very low score on this track and their fielding was way below average as they dropped 3 catches.
Saint Lucia Kings did lose an early wicket in the form of Andre Fletcher but their skipper, Faf du Plessis, carried on in his merry way and got his team off to a decent start along with Kerron Cottoy. Once they both perished, it was a Roston Chase show who started scoring freely and put the pressure back on the Patriots. He was their chief architect in the chase and saw his team through by staying unbeaten on 51. Tim David came in later in the innings and he too scored freely and finished the match in some style with a maximum!
What a clinical performance this has been from the Saint Lucia Kings and they have done the double over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, courtesy of some excellent bowling and fielding.
