So, that is it from this game! WE HAVE A DECIDER THEN! That will be played on the 7th September. The game will begin at 2:30 pm Local (9 am GMT). The build-up though will begin a lot earlier, so do join us for that. Till then, take care and goodbye!
Keshav Maharaj, the South African skipper, says that his job was made easier by the team. Adds that the batters put on a good score and the bowlers started really strong. Adds that there was more energy and the boys were more motivated. Mentions that they played three spinners due to the conditions and credits the coaches and selectors for backing the decision. Further adds that they looked to capitalize in the death overs and praises Klaasen for the way he batted.
Dasun Shanaka, the Sri Lankan skipper, he says that they started well with the ball but the stand between Malan and Hendricks took the game away from them. Adds that the total was chaseable but the rain break made things tougher. Says that he will look to give more overs to his pacers in the next game.
Janneman Malan is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH, says that it is good to come to a place like this and get a good score. Adds that he didn't face much spin in the first game and he was trying to bat straight against the spinners here. Says that he is determined to give his best every time for his team.
The problem for Sri Lanka was they lost way too many wickets at the start! Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka then did show some fight but one of them needed to play a special innings. Asalanka did give it his all, he got a fine fifty but it was an uphill task. Had they got a start from the top order, the story might have well been different. Have to say, the Lankans were outplayed here.
It was Rabada who began things off by taking two wickets quickly at the start. Mulder then joined in with one. In no time the hosts were 4 down. There was a partnership then but the South African bowlers just did not let Dasun Shanaka and Charith Asalanka score freely. The required rate kept climbing, then there was a rain break which saw the game being reduced even more. And after the delay, it was their spinners who came to the fore for the visitors with Tabraiz Shamsi being the star with a five-for.
A very convincing win for South Africa and they have managed to level the series! They were clinical, right from the start! After electing to bat, their batters came to the fore. Janneman Malan was the mainstay with a brilliant ton and the others played around him. South Africa managed to post a total that seemed above par at that point and their bowlers proved that to be right.
