That's it then from this game but there's still cricketing action left in the day! There is just one more game left before the focus turns to the semi-finals. The top two teams in Group B, England Women take on New Zealand Women in a cracking encounter to see which side seals the top spot in the group. That match begins at 10.30 pm IST (5 pm GMT) but our build-up will begin much sooner. Cheers!
Earlier in the game, Sune Luus won the toss and opted to bowl first which proved to be a brilliant decision as the experienced Shabnim Ismail got a wicket off the very first ball of the game and that set the tone for South Africa Women. They continued to get wickets regularly and it was Nadine de Klerk who was the pick of the bunch. The fielding and catching too was on point and the Sri Lanka Women batters had no chance at all. Only the skipper, Chamari Athapaththu kept on trying and got into double-figures before her side were bowled out for under 50 runs. With no scoreboard pressure, the South Africa Women openers played sensibly and took advantage of some poor bowling from the opposition to get the job done without breaking a sweat. Both teams are out of the competition but South Africa Women have something to show for it.
Sri Lanka Women bowlers needed a miracle of seismic proportions to pull off the win here but they failed to even get a single wicket. They looked deflated out in the middle and their bowlers were all over the place. Even the fielders made a couple of simple errors and all in all, they would just like to forget this game and head back home.
South Africa Women needed just 47 runs to win in 120 balls which is like a cake walk and their openers have done the job with ease. Tazmin Brits and Anne Bosch both got a bit of help from the opposition bowlers and fielders but never did they look like getting out and they have done the job in a hurry. The two put on a steady partnership and both of them scored almost similarly to notch up the win.
A very, very comfortable victory in the end for South Africa Women and they end their campaign on the right note as they get their first win. As for Sri Lanka Women, a nightmare of a tournament has ended in the worst way possible, with their most disappointing performance coming in the final game.
