What a damp squib! India thoroughly dominated the contest and made it a one-sided affair. Next up, in Semi-Final 2, New Zealand will be crossing swords against Bangladesh on Thursday at 1000 local (0800 GMT). The winner will meet India on Sunday for the coveted trophy. Do join us for all the action. Cheers!
India U19 skipper, Priyam Garg says that he is very happy to get to the final and are one step closer to their aim now. He feels that they have the best bowling attack in the tournament as their pacers bowl around 140 kph and their spinners are very consistent with their lines and lengths as well. On the combination of Jaiswal and Saxena , Garg adds that this is not the first time that they have done this and that they have been doing it for a long time now. Says their the running between the wickets is good and they complement each other. On being asked about the final, Garg says that he wants his team to focus on the same process and play the final as just another game.
Pakistan U19 skipper, Rohail Nazir is down for an interview. He says that the wicket was good but they did not put up a good total on the board. Says that at the halfway stage when Pakistan were batting, they were going good but in the middle overs the crucial partnership never came and that hurt them. Talking about the Indian team, he says that their batting is exceptional along with their bowling and fielding which is very good as well. Adds that they will learn from their mistakes. Ends by saying they have to perform in the crunch moments and is looking forward to the 3rd place playoff match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named the Man of the Match for his fantastic unbeaten ton. He starts by saying that this is a dream come true for him and these feelings cannot be described in words. Says defeating Pakistan in a semi-final is extra special. On his partnership with Saxena, he says that they had to stay at the wicket because the pitch was pretty good. Mentions that they decided to ride out the tough spell and knew that it would become easier later. Adds that all this is because of the hard work done by everyone, right from the management, the physios and his teammates. Ends by thanking the crowd for coming out in large numbers and supporting them.
It was a listless performance by Pakistan at the grand stage. Their batting suffered a collapse and then their bowling failed to turn up. They will be crestfallen after losing so badly to their neighbours. The Boys in Blue complete a dominating and ruthless performance and are looking good to defend their title.
A comprehensive win for India! They have thrashed their arch-rivals in this crunch encounter and stormed into their third successive final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup! It could have been a stiff target given the bowling prowess of Pakistan but the Indian openers applied themselves and completely blunted the bowling attack. Yashasvi Jaiswal stroked a fluent century and received good support from Divyaansh Saxena from the other end. Together the pair showed great temperament and technique to outclass Pakistan.

We're back for the run chase. Dark clouds have started to gather to just add to the drama. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyaansh Saxena are the Indian openers. They have a below-par target in front and can take their time to settle down. Pakistan's real strength has been bowling in this tournament and they would be banking on some early wickets to have a shout in this match. Who will succeed? Powerplay 1 would throw a clear picture our way. Tahir Hussain to speed in with the first new ball...
173 to win then. Should be a cakewalk for India. Can Pakistan make a fist of it? Stay tuned for the run chase.
Perfect bowling by India. They stuck to their lines and lengths, with Kartik Tyagi swinging the ball like a banana. Sushant Mishra took care of the short stuff and ended up with 3 wickets. The spinners did not take too many wickets today but combined figures of 17-0-75-3 are more than acceptable between Ravi Bishnoi and Atharva Ankolekar. Yashasvi Jaiswal bowled his part-time leggies and returned with a scalp of the set Haider as well.
Just 3 batsmen managed double figures - Haider Ali, Rohail Nazir and Mohammad Haris - the rest just withered away. In fact, the last 6 wickets fell for just 26 runs. A monumental collapse. They had no answer to the spin or the swing movement from the Indian bowlers or even to the short stuff from them.
In a high-pressure game, Pakistan wilt again. They did all the preparations, practiced long and hard yesterday, even turned up 2 hours before the scheduled reporting time today - but calm and cool India have just blown them away for a paltry 172. The Boys In Green did start off confidently, were looking in good shape too for some time but then lost their way in the middle overs.
Sushant Mishra is down for a chat. Says that the pitch was having some bounce. Hence, he was backing his strengths and bowling accordingly. On Divyaansh Saxena's superb catch to dismiss Mohammad Haris, Sushant smiles and says that their coach always tells them that you should always try for catches. Normally, they stick.

OUT! CAUGHT! That is a blinder from Divyaansh Saxena and this has sent Mohammad Haris, the aggressor of the Pakistan innings, back in the hut. OUT! RUN OUT! Woah, talk about shooting yourselves in the foot and that is what Pakistan have done here. Flatter delivery just outside off, Akram guides this one towards point with soft hands and takes off for a single. His partner responds but then sees there is no run available and turns back. It is a race between Akram and Nazir as to who will reach in time at the non-striker's end. Nazir wins that race and Ankolekar throws the ball towards the striker's end where Jurel whips off the bails. Qasim Akram has to walk back but Bishnoi is almost disappointed that his team did not get the wicket of the Pakistani skipper there. However, another step forward for India.

Periscope! Mishra is having Haider Ali in all sorts of trouble. Another well-directed bumper. He clocks 139 kph and Haider once again shows poor technique. Takes his eyes off the ball and keeps his bat hanging like a periscope. It catches his blade and flies down to third man. Luckily it has not gone straight to the fielder. A single is taken and Ali would take this opportunity to catch his breath.
Physio makes his appearance! Magic spray will come out soon to ease his pain.

Ouch! That's struck Haider flush on the left shoulder. He's in deep pain and the physio has been summoned immediately. Mishra once again surprises the batsman with a bouncer. A well-directed one. Haider picks it late, maybe. Tries to duck by taking his eyes off the ball. He is struck on the left shoulder and it balloons towards gully. The Indian players get excited but no one catches it. Now, they walk up to Haider to check his well-being. He is rubbing his shoulder in pain.

FOUR! You don't need to run for those. A cracking shot by Ali. Mishra overpitches a shade and delivers it close to off, Haider takes his front leg forward and drives it crisply through cover-point.

A yorker to end the over. Outside off, Fahad looks to dig it out but misses.

Another huge shout for LBW. Turned down again. Did this pitch outside leg? Perhaps. Very full, around leg, Munir looks to flick across the line but misses and is hit on the pads. As per Rohan Gavaskar on air, even if it did pitch outside leg, did not pitch too far!

Drama all around! What a ball. Full and around off, almost a yorker, Munir looks to get his bat down but misses. The ball swings in, the bat hits his boot and Tyagi appeals for LBW. The umpire shakes his head but the fun does not end there. The keeper Jurel decides to catch the batsman off guard and under-arms a shy at the striker's end, aiming to stump the batsman. He misses and the bowler is not aware that the throw is coming to him. Mid on chases after it and the batsmen take a bye.
Fahad Munir walks in at number 3, replacing Huraira.

OUT! The star of the show against Afghanistan is gone cheaply! The Indian boys are ecstatic. Early breakthrough for them. Mishra keeps on altering his length in this over. This time he pitches it back of a length around middle, Huraira turns to pull but it collects the top edge and flies in front of square leg. Divyaansh Saxena settles underneath it and takes the skier safely.

Shout for a caught behind, not given! It's in fact given as a WIDE! Mishra follows up the fuller length ball with a bouncer just outside leg. Huraira tries to pull but fails to connect. It flies over his gloves and Jurel appeals after collecting the ball. The umpire though turns to signal a wide.

FOUR! Shot! Huraira is off the mark in style. The line from Mishra is very straight and Huraira makes full use of it. Flicks it across the line, finds the gap at mid-wicket and sends it across the boundary line.
Sushant Mishra to operate from the other end. He steams in but Huraira pulls out at the last moment. Maybe, he wasn't ready.

EDGY FOUR! Pakistan are off the mark in the most nervy way possible. Tyagi bowls a couple of deliveries in the region outside off and then out of nowhere dishes out a terrific yorker. It tails in the air as it approaches the stumps and Ali luckily gets his bat in time to dig it out. However, it kisses the inside edge, beats the stumps and hurries away to the fine leg fence.

Flirting with the wide line! Tyagi delivers it on a back of a length and outside off, Haider shoulders arms. Lucky to get away with that!

Tyagi begins with a tempter! He serves it full and wide outside off, there to be driven but Ali restrains himself from going after it.
All in readiness in Potch! The Indian team is in a huddle. Haider Ali and Mohammad Huraira walk out to the centre to open for Pakistan. The latter had a great debut game against Afghanistan and would like to repeat it against arch-rivals. Kartik Tyagi to kickoff proceedings for the Blue team. Two slips waiting. Here we go...
The boys from both teams are out in the middle as it's time for the national anthems. Pakistan's first, followed by India's...
Pakistan (Unchanged Playing XI) - Haider Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Rohail Nazir (C/WK), Fahad Munir, Qasim Akram, Mohammad Haris, Irfan Khan, Abbas Afridi, Tahir Hussain, Amir Ali, Mohammad Amir Khan.
India (Unchanged Playing XI) - Yashasvi Jaiswal, Divyaansh Saxena, Tilak Varma, Priyam Garg (C), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Siddhesh Veer, Atharva Ankolekar, Ravi Bishnoi, Sushant Mishra, Kartik Tyagi, Akash Singh.
Indian captain, Priyam Garg, says that he is happy bowling first. On the hype surrounding Ind-Pak matches, Priyam says that the crowd makes it more hyped than the players and the latter simply look to play it as a normal game. On being asked which is India's stronger aspect, Garg touts bowling as India's strong factor. Informs that India too, are going unchanged from the previous game.
Pakistan's skipper, Rohail Nazir, says that he is batting because it's a semi-final and they want to put runs on the board and defend it. Adds that this is the time to make a mark in a big game against India. On the rivalry, he replies that it's always a bigger one and they are looking forward to the challenge. Nazir wants to play good cricket and informs that they are unchanged.
Toss - Up goes the coin, Rohail Nazir calls it correctly and PAKISTAN ELECT TO BAT!
If we recap the performances of these two units, both come across as a team well-equipped to last the distance. The bowling attacks of India and Pakistan are loaded with talent and since the pitches are getting tired, the spinners are expected to play a major role. On the batting front, the Indians will be in a good space after surviving the challenge of Australia and that would have given them handy confidence. For Pakistan, they too were in a tricky position against Afghanistan but since the target wasn't too much, they survived a scare and sailed through eventually. How will they counter the Indian spinners?
It's here! The most-awaited match of the ICC Under19 World Cup 2020 is about to get underway. India vs Pakistan. At Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. Doesn't matter which sport, doesn't matter which place, when these two rivals collide, the world stops and watches with keen interest.
