India beat Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs
That brings an end to this one-sided Test series. The number one Test team has extended their winning run in Tests to 7 (their best ever) and they are looking like an unstoppable unit. As far as the ICC World Test Championship is concerned, India now have 360 points and no other team is even close to them. They will now take a break in this format as their next assignment is in New Zealand in February. For now, the home side will get ready to host West Indies in white-ball cricket. Bangladesh will return home and will have to do a lot of soul-searching. We look forward to your company in future. Cheers!
Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, says it's amazing that the crowd numbers are getting better. Adds that he did not expect too much crowd today going by the situation they were in and it was good to see the crowd cheering for us today as well. Adds that, similarly when they go overseas, it is their belief that makes them win matches and it is their mindset which helps them and without that they cannot win. Goes on to say that Test cricket is a mental challenge and earlier they used to get hit but now they have learnt to give it back and it all started with Dada's team. Says that the Man of the Match was rightly given to a bowler as picking up nine wickets in India is not easy. On his batting, Kohli says that it is good to get runs and lead from the front.
Ishant Sharma is adjudged the Man of the Match and Series! Jokingly says Shami told him to give whatever he is carrying in his pocket to him. On bowling from around the wicket to the left-handers and bringing the ball in, Ishant says that all the bowlers learned it in the last game and they showed it to Bharat Arun who said it was a fluke. Goes on to add that he bowled it in this game and got a wicket. On the pink ball, it was not swinging much in the day but it happened a bit during the evening.
Mominul Haque, the Bangladesh skipper, is up first. He says it is a concern that they were defeated in this manner and they are certainly disappointed with that. Says that the pink ball is different than the other balls and it is definitely a challenge to face these pink ones. Counts the performance of Ebadot Hossain along with Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das and Mahmudullah as the positives. Finishes off by saying that fielding first would not have made much of a difference as the pitch was a dry one.
Bharat Arun turns up for an interview now! Tells that the bowlers hunt as a pack and they take pride in each other's success. Adds that they work on the basics. Further says that they have an experienced bowling attack and they quickly adapt to the bowling conditions. On playing their next Test in New Zealand, Arun replies that playing there is going to be a big challenge and it is going to be fun.
The Indian head coach, Ravi Shastri, is also down now for an interview along with the bowling coach Bharat Arun. Shastri is feeling proud as an Indian as they are dominating the game in the last few years. Further goes on to say that the players have discipline and they are hungry to win every game. States that there is no shortcut and they know that they have to put in the hard work on all the five days. On Bangladesh, Shastri tells that they are a very strong side back home but he feels they need more exposure. Mentions that they did miss the services of Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal. Advises them to work on their pace attack.
Sanjay Manjrekar is down for an interview with Wriddhiman Saha, the local lad. The wicketkeeper says that they have got excellent pace bowlers in the last 3-4 years and it is a challenge for him behind the wickets. Informs that the pink ball was doing a lot under lights. Mentions that while keeping to the fast bowlers, he just follows what he has learnt and watches the ball carefully till the last moment. He ranks Jasprit Bumrah as the no. 1 bowler followed by Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav.
Agreed it was always a mismatch against the mighty Indian team but the way Bangladesh surrendered without putting up a fight was disappointing. Skill to bat or bowl against quality opponents won't develop overnight but one can always show better application and temperament. The Bangla team should look at the way Mushfiqur Rahim gutted it out in the middle and learn from the best they have in the dressing room. Their bowling cannot be faulted much as they did bowl their hearts out and all their pacers were impressive in patches. They should be looked after well back home where Bangladesh only concentrate on making spinning decks and completely ignore the fast bowlers. You cannot expect them to turn up without much exposure overseas and deliver the goods. To win a Test match you need to pick 20 wickets and there has to be a proper balance between pace and spin in the bowling attack. Quicker they learn better it will be for them. Time for some interviews...
Bangladesh are yet to develop as a Test team, especially away from home. They have been abysmal over the years whenever touring and have always underperformed. For argument sake, one can point towards the absence of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan but the stats never lie and it tells that Bangladesh have been the same with them or without them in this format. Yes, they fight slightly better but that doesn't materialize into victory.
Fueled by the aggression of Sourav Ganguly and nurtured by the calmness of MS Dhoni, this Indian team has turned into a beast and Virat Kohli is not only the beneficiary but also the worthy leader of a unit playing a fiery brand of cricket. Over the years, India have produced many batting greats but were always short on quality in their bowling attack. There was a time they used to hunt for bowlers in domestic cricket who can bowl at a decent pace but time has changed and the last five years have seen the emergence of bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami. The resurgence of Ishant Sharma and the recent improvement shown by Umesh Yadav has further bolstered their bowling and the kind of impact they have started to make has made them one of the deadliest attacks in world cricket.
The historic and the maiden Day-Night Test took a little over two days to fetch us a result. As has been the case, it was a no match. Bangladesh were overwhelmed on the first day of the pink ball Test. They were shot down for just 106 and from thereon it was only catch up for them. The Indian batting didn't waste much time in adjusting to the alien conditions and powered by Virat Kohli's century, they amassed a big first inning's lead. The story of Bangladesh's batting didn't change second time around as well and apart from Mushfiqur Rahim no one showed the stomach for a fight. Ishant Sharma was the standout performer with the ball and finished with a 9-wicket haul in this Test while Umesh Yadav wasn't too far behind with 8 wickets.
A quick finish was expected and a quick finish it is! India have taken less than 10 overs to bundle out Bangladesh and taking the series 2-0! Also, notably all the wickets in this Test match were taken by their pacers which in itself is amazing and shows the strength of their pace battery.

OUT! Umesh Yadav picks a fifer (his third in Tests) and wins the individual battle with Ishant Sharma! Mahmudullah won't come out to bat so INDIA WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 46 RUNS and become the first team to complete four successive innings wins. A back of a length ball on middle, Al-Amin hangs on the back foot to play it loosely with a straight bat but it kisses the outside edge and flies behind to Saha. He catches it with ease and they all appeal. The finger has gone up and the Indian team is ecstatic. The crowd is loving it and the players are exchanging smiles and hugs.

Shami has slightly hurt himself! Ishant spears in a yorker on middle, Jayed digs it out towards short mid-wicket and looks for a run. The fielder has a shy at the bowler's end but fails to find the stumps. Shami trying to back up the throw is hit on his leg and it deflects away. Now the batsmen complete the single.

Better this time from Ishant. He angles in a length ball from middle and leg, Al-Amin makes room to swing his bat but fails to connect again.
A fly slip comes into place now along with a fly gully.

FOUR! Why would you bowl that length, screams Sunil Gavaskar on air? Rightly so. Target the stumps with a full length ball. Sharma bangs it in around leg, Al-Amin moves back to pull across the line but it takes the top edge and flies over the slip cordon for a boundary.

Ishant Sharma is back on. We have a confirmation that Mahmudullah will not bat in this innings. So just one wicket left and both Umesh and Ishant would want to take that to complete their fifer. Good individual battle, this!

Umesh greets the batsman with a short delivery, Jayed shows good skills in ramping it over the slip cordon. The ball slows down in the deep and they take a single.
Abu Jayed is the new batsman.

OUT! Fight over from Rahim and end is nigh for Bangladesh. Yadav dishes out a good length ball close to off, Rahim steps down the track to make room for an inside-out shot but ends up skying it in the air at covers. Jadeja is stationed there and he will not drop those even in his sleep. An excellent knock by Rahim is over and sadly for him, he won't be getting his maiden century in a Day-Night Test!

Shout for an lbw! The umpire shakes his head. Saha says 'baahar hai baahar' meaning that the impact is outside off. Jadeja delivers an arm ball around off, skidding in, Rahim attempts for a paddle sweep to play it fine on the leg side but fails to connect properly. It possibly goes off his pads towards fine leg and they cross. Umpire Erasmus waits for the Indian skipper to take a call on the DRS and once the time runs out, he signals it as leg byes. Now then, the replays are shown and the impact is found to be in line so Saha is wrong with his advice and Jadeja has been robbed off a wicket here.

FOUR! Lucky boundary! Ishant follows the batsman down the leg side with a yorker, Al-Amin does well to bring his bat down in time. He jams it out from the bottom edge of his bat and it loops over the keeper on one bounce for a boundary.
37.5

Stays on the back foot to defend but gets an inside edge onto the pads.
37.4
.
Stifled appeal for an lbw! Nothing doing. You will need 3-4 more stumps to get that lbw. Ishant delivers it on a length around middle and leg and gets it to drift down. Al-Amin stays leg side of this delivery and tries to work it around. Fails to do so and takes a blow on his pads. A muted appeal from the Indian players but it's over-optimistic.
37.3

Aahhh... typical tail-ender! Gets carried away with the previous shot. Ishant feeds him room outside off, it's short in length and outside off, Al-Amin flashes and misses.

FOUR! Nicely played in the end by Bangladesh's number 9! Shortish delivery around off, Hossain is on his toes as he controls the bounce well and then guides it wide of the slip cordon for a boundary.
37.1
.
Miscommunication and nearly a run out! Back of a length ball on off, Al-Amin pushes it from the crease to cover-point and comes out of the crease in search of a run. Rahim could have responded but seeing Jadeja attacking the ball, he sends his partner back. Sir misses his shy at the striker's end as Hossain parks his bat inside the line. The replays show that direct hit would have consumed Al-Amin.

Well...well...well... What was that from Rahim? He wants to dominate Ishant. He wants to negate whatever movement the bowler is getting from the pitch. 32.4

Poor beginning. A gentle loosener. Very full and down the leg side, Ebadot tries to flick but misses.
Time to get going! Out come the two umpires followed by the Indian players. Mushfiqur Rahim takes the centre stage and he is joined by Ebadot Hossain in the middle. This means Mahmudullah has not yet recovered from his hamstring injury. Umesh Yadav to complete his unfinished over.
Pitch report - Sunil Gavaskar starts by saying that don't worry about the pitch and opines that Bangladesh are a very ordinary team with very ordinary application and they will struggle on most pitches regardless of the conditions and the colour of the ball. Deep Dasgupta points the landing area of the bowlers that required some repair work last evening but it's not required today which indicates that it's still a good wicket to bat on. The Little Master signs off by repeating that the surface doesn't matter much and this Test match will end sooner rather than later.
Welcome ladies and gentlemen on a Sunday afternoon for the last rites in this Test match. Just four wickets separate India from sending Bangladesh home empty handed and going by the way things have gone so far, we should be in for a quick finish. Having said that, Bangladesh fought quite bravely last evening and their first target will be to wipe off the current 89-run deficit and make the home team bat again. Mushfiqur Rahim is the last man standing for them and he will hope for some support from the remaining batsmen. Mahmudullah's fitness is still unknown and we will have to wait for any update. Stay tuned for more...
... DAY 3, SESSION 1 ...
Right then, it appears to be a matter of minutes on Sunday. Although as Rahane said in his post-match interview, cricket is a funny game and anything can happen. Keeping that in mind, we would not get too ahead of ourselves. Do join us at 1300 local (0730 GMT) for all the action. Cheers!
Yet another exciting day of Test cricket comes to a close. India inch closer to 2-0 and are just four wickets away from achieving it. Earlier in the day, their skipper notched up a fabulous century and entertained the crowd with his sumptuous shots. Later on, batting got tougher during the twilight period and at one stage they lost wickets in clumps. However, all that happened after they were on safer shores. Post that, Ishant Sharma bowled with a lot of fire and venom and along with Umesh Yadav decimated the Bangladeshi batting yet again. Sharma has now taken 9 wickets in the match and would be eyeing his second 10-wicket haul in Tests on Day 3.
Ajinkya Rahane is up for an interview. Says that it's been wonderful and he is glad to be a part of this historic Test match. Adds that once the lights are on, it becomes challenging for the batsmen and feels that the first session is best for batting as there isn't a lot of lateral movement. Tells that the twilight period has always been challenging and it becomes slightly easier in the third session due to the dew setting in. Mentions that as a batting unit you try to play positive cricket and then cash in later on. States that he is enjoying watching the pacers bowl from gully, both with the red ball and the pink one. On his dropped catches, Rahane replies that he has to take it in a positive way as it happens in cricket and attitude matters a lot after dropping a catch. Feels that they still have to come hard at Bangladesh and not look too far ahead as cricket is a funny game.
Bangladesh fought bravely in this session but they were already shot on the foot early on with the wickets of Mohammad Mithun and Imrul Kayes. Mushfiqur Rahim has led the charge with a fine knock and his partnership with Mahmudullah would have given some relief and sense of respect to the dressing room. They somewhat recovered from 13/4 but then the injury to Mahmudullah cut short their brief resistance. Still, it was a session full of runs as the touring party scored 145 runs in it at a brisk pace. Had their top order shown some resilience and skill, Bangladesh could have been in a fighting position heading into Day 3.

OUT! The short delivery has finally consumed Taijul Islam. He never looked comfortable against the short pitched deliveries. Yadav sensed that and bangs it in around off. W
OUT! Ishant takes his revenge on the next ball! 9th wicket for him in this Test match. His line on this delivery is impeccable. He puts it on a good length and close to the off stump line. It nips away a bit after landing and Mehidy, completely flat-footed, has a needless poke inside the line. Gets a thick outside edge and it settles nicely into the hands of Virat Kohli at first slip. The Indian skipper makes no mistake and Bangladesh have now lost half their side, trailing by 108 runs.

FOUR! Mehidy puts one away! Back of a length delivery outside off, Mehidy camps back and punches it behind square on the off side. It's wide of gully and races away to the fence. 50-run stand comes up!

FOUR! 21st Test fifty for Rahim, second in this series. A good length delivery outside off, Rahim pushes inside the line with an angled bat and guides it fine down to third man for a boundary. A responsible knock from the senior man and he is trying to show the way for others!

Width on offer outside off, Rahim rocks back to cut but mistimes it towards the cover region.
Ishant Sharma is brought back into the attack. He bowled with a lot of fire in his initial spell and bagged a 3-fer. Can he add more to his tally?

FOUR! Shot! Rahim has batted with good control. Shami pitches it up and outside off, he strides forward and drives it crisply on the up through covers. The ball races away to the fence in no time.
Drinks. A good passage of play for Bangladesh although they are way behind in this Test match. Mahmudullah and Rahim arrested the early fall of wickets and constructed a partnership but the injury to the former cut short that period for the visiting team. The fight is on from the current pair and let's see whether Mehidy Hasan make any use of the life gifted to him by Rahane.

A screaming appeal for Ishant Sharma! Not for the first time in this innings. Rahim is the batsman in question. He has missed his flick shot and is rapped on the pads. OUT! CAUGHT! Brilliant stuff from Ishant and Kohli as well. A length delivery in the line of the stumps and it moves away a shade after hitting the deck. Kayes gets squared up in an attempt to defend it from the crease and the ball goes towards Kohli at third slip. The Indian skipper dives across to his right and takes the catch. Looking at the Indian skipper's reaction after taking the catch, it seems that Kohli picked the ball very late but still manages to hold onto it. OUT! Wicket number 3 goes down! Umesh bowled the first one in the fuller region and then immediately shortens it to surprise the batsman. Mithun probably picks the length late and is hurried into his pull shot. He mistimes it in the air towards short mid-wicket where Mohammed Shami moves back a bit and pouches the catch safely. Maybe, that hit on the head was still replaying in his mind. He could have either left it or pulled it with more conviction. But that fear didn't allow him to get on top of the bounce properly. If you remember, Mithun was out in a similar fashion in the second innings in Indore as well. Definitely a technical deficiency. India have struck early after Tea and Bangladesh continue to go downhill.

Fine delivery and a good shot as well. Full and angling in on middle, it straightens a touch after landing, Mithun presents a straight bat and pushes it down the ground. The mid on fielder chases it and the batsmen take a couple of runs.
We're back for the final session of the second day which also could be the last day of this Test match. The way the pink ball is moving and the rhythm with which the Indian bowlers have bowled so far, it's pointing towards a quick finish. Will we get one? Umesh Yadav to steam in...
... DAY 2, THIRD SESSION ...
An excellent session of Test cricket. As soon as the new ball was taken during India's batting, the much-talked about pink ball started to show its magic. Virat Kohli decided to declare after a lead of 241. Having lost 4 wickets for 23 runs the movement of the pink ball under lights might have also played a part in his decision. It proved to be a good call as the new ball did move viciously for India as well. Ishant Sharma managed to get two wickets in the 5 overs they bowled and also scared the visitors with his sharp bouncers. Bangladesh have a mammoth task in hand as they are still staring down at a big deficit and have already lost Shadman Islam and skipper Mominul Haque. Can Bangladesh fight out the day/evening or will this be the last day of this historic Test? Join us after the break to find out.

Bang on the helmet! Yet another victim of concussion in this Test? Surely not. Bangladesh don't have enough batsmen left in their squad. The physio rushes out. The mandatory concussion test is going on. Mohammad Mithun is looking fine but then Liton Das was also fine when tested but later felt the effect on Day 1. They need to be careful here. An extended conversation is going on between Mithun, physio and the umpires. Maybe, the officials want the batsman to go off if he is feeling dazed and allow the match to resume. Decision is made. Mithun is staying. Around 3 minutes left on the clock for Tea.
4.2
.
Nasty! That must have shook him. Bouncer! A vicious one from Ishant. Mithun looks to duck under it but he is a bit late to do so. The ball hits him hard on his helmet. The Indian players go straight up to him and check on him. He looks a bit shocked as well. The physio is called upon. Let us hope that he is fine to continue as we have already seen two concussion-based substitutes in this game.
4.1
.
NOT OUT! India continue to save their review but keep on failing to overturn the decision. Good length ball pitching on off, Mithun looks to flick but misses. The ball hits him on the front pad. The Indian players put in a loud appeal but the umpire is unmoved. Kohli signals the 'T'. Replay rolls in and it shows that the ball was going onto clip the leg pole. It is umpire's call.
DRS time yet again! Ishant Sharma roars in an appeal, he thinks he has trapped the striker in front. The umpire remains unmoved. Virat Kohli has a word with his bowler and then signals the T. Is it missing leg? Or clipping? Or hitting? The impact is in line but it's clipping the leg stump. Umpire's call.

OUT! Caught! Second wicket for Ishant. The Bangladesh skipper grabs a pair. A forgetful series for him. Ishant goes wide of the crease and bowls it very full outside off. Mominul looks to defend but gets a thick outside edge. It goes to the left of Saha and he takes a simple catch. The crowd are up in celebration and so are the Indian players. Bangladesh 2/2 and they are in all kind of trouble here. Mominul becomes only the 3rd Bangladeshi skipper to grab a pair. Not a record he would like to be part of.

OUT! This was coming with the way Ishant was making the ball talk. He bowled a plenty of away swingers in the zone outside off and suddenly changed his line. Served it around middle and off and got it to shape away a shade. Shadman was caught inside the crease, trying to work it away. But he missed it and got rapped on the back leg. The Indian players appealed and the finger went up. Shadman decided to refer the decision but it's of no use. The third umpire found the impact to be in line of the off stump and then it was shown to be tickling the off pole. Umpire's call stays. Only saving grace for Bangladesh is that they didn't lose their review.
Huge shout for an lbw! The finger has gone up. Shadman Islam walks up to his partner and then signals for the referral. Looks like the impact is with the umpire's call. Let's find out in the replays. Wow! The impact is in line and it's clipping the off stump. First blood drawn. The crowd has gone bonkers.

Movement straightaway for Ishant. He begins his spell with a length delivery in the channel outside off and gets it to move away off the seam. Shadman makes a watchful leave.
Bangladesh's bowling was completely flat to say the least and their fielding too wasn't up to the mark. They were always behind the 8-ball and their only moment of joy came after they took the second new ball. Their bowlers made it talk and picked up four wickets in quick time. Al-Amin Hossain, Abu Jayed and Ebadot Hossain picked 8 wickets among themselves but failed to create the kind of impact Bangladesh would have wanted. Now, it's up to their batsmen to show some fight and resilience against the lethal pace battery of India. They have a deficit of 241 to negate first. Do join us in a short while.
Summing up India's reply to Bangladesh's paltry first innings total, once again it was their skipper, Virat Kohli, who stood up to the challenge of the alien conditions and notched up yet another century in his illustrious career. Pujara and Rahane batted around him to construct vital partnerships and together, it was a strong reply by the home team against some lacklustre bowling by the Bangla team.
Here comes the declaration! Virat Kohli feels he has got enough in the kitty and the last pair ain't adding much. Also, he wants his pacers to get the taste of bowling under lights with the pink ball. Tough time ahead for the Bangladeshi batsmen.

... Day 2, Second session ...
Another one-sided session of Test cricket thoroughly dominated by India! Virat Kohli has notched up a century yet again and it's business as usual for the home team. Their lead has zoomed to a significant number in India's cricket history (183) and they have closed almost all the doors on Bangladesh. Only saving grace for the visitors was the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane and apart from that they were substandard with their bowling and fielding. Currently going through the motions, Bangladesh need a spark of inspiration from somewhere. Will it come after Lunch? Do join us at 1540 local (1010 GMT) for the second session.

HUNDRED FOR KOHLI! Number 27 in Tests! The captain leading from the front. This has been a brilliant knock from the skipper. He gets into the history books by becoming the first Indian to get a century in a Day-Night Test. Floated around the pads, Virat glances it behind square on the leg side and takes a couple to get to his milestone. Virat removes his helmet and raises his bat as the crowd and his teammates rise and applaud the knock from the King! His 41st century as skipper across all formats, joint most. Equals Ricky Ponting's record. Time to convert this into another double hundred, Super V?

Drinks break! After toiling hard for an hour, Bangladesh managed to pick a wicket against the run of play. From the point of view of this Test match, India are well ahead, by 130 runs to be precise, and the home team continues to march forward. Virat Kohli is nearing his century and that should keep the fans engaged in the next hour. For Bangladesh, they are going through the motion and need to increase their intensity in the field. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has joined the Indian skipper in the middle.

The Eden bell is rung by Chess-maestros, Viswanathan Anand and Magnus Carlsen! We're all set to get underway! Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane are the overnight batsmen for India. They are amidst a 37-run stand currently. Bangladesh are beginning with a pacer. It's Al-Amin Hossain (14-3-49-1). A couple of slips and a gully in place. Let's play...
Pitch report - Sunil Gavaskar starts by saying that Bangladesh's batting was very ordinary on Day 1. Feels they got overwhelmed by the occasion and adds that the full house can deter any team. Tells that the ball didn't swing as much as it did in Indore and it was poor batting. Reckons that it's still a very good pitch to bat on. Mentions that the batsmen need to be careful early on and then there will be runs on offer. Praises the groundsmen for thinking out of the box as they used jute bags and extra protection to avoid dew setting in on the ground during the last session. The Little Master signs off by reiterating that the pitch is full of runs.
13 wickets, a fifer for a bowler, not one but two concussion substitutes, Bangladesh getting overawed by the situation, Indian openers getting dismissed cheaply for a change, Pujara and Kohli showing their mettle under demanding conditions - Those were the highlights of the first day of the historic Day-Night Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. It was truly action-packed and this match has moved at a very brisk pace. Already the home team has got a 68-run lead and with plenty of batting left in the tank, they will aim to build Mount Everest in front of their Asian neighbours. A one-way traffic it has been and we are expecting more of the same today. Can Bangladesh surprise and prove us wrong? Hello and welcome everyone for the coverage and stay with us to find out.
... DAY 2, SESSION 1 ...
So 13 wickets fell on the first day of this historic pink-ball Test. India have a healthy lead of 68 and they will look to make it an unassailable one on Day 2. Bangladesh will hope that it is a better day on Saturday and they can somehow manage to restrict India to a bare minimum. What's in store for us on Day 2? Join us on Saturday, 23rd November to find out. The play will start at 1300 local (0730 GMT). Till then, have a good time!
A tough day's play for Bangladesh. First the batsmen surrendered with a paltry score of 106. The bowlers tried their best under lights and though there was not a lot of movement or help from the surface, they managed to pick up 3 wickets. Ebadot was expensive but got 2 wickets. Al-Amin was the other bowler to get into the wickets column. It will be another long day for the visitors if they don't manage to keep picking up wickets.
A historic day has come to an end and it was another dominant day of play for India. They initially bowled out Bangladesh for just 106 and then they have managed to finish the evening's play with a lead of 68. The hosts lost the openers relatively early but the duo of Pujara and Kohli added 94 runs. Both got to their respective half tons but Pujara once again failed to convert his start. The Indian skipper and his deputy have added unbeaten 37 runs and would look to add more on Day 2.

There is nothing to talk about Bangladesh though. They were poor with the bat yet again and folded for just 106. They surely will be disappointed with that. Their bowlers have done a little better bowling probing lines and lengths even managing to get the wicket of Mayank Agarwal. They could have had another wicket to their kitty had Al-Amin Hossain not dropped Rohit Sharma. They still have a long way to go and would look to take quick wickets quickly. Now, what to expect after the break? Will the Indians continue to dominate or will the visitors' show some fight? Join us in a while to find out.
Then, Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma came out all guns blazing and were going at 6 runs per over at one stage before Mayank guided a simple catch to gully. Pujara came out and along with Rohit, has thrown some caution to the wind and have managed to negate the remaining overs before Tea.
A session which was fully dominated by the Indians. They first bowled out the visitors for a cheap 106 courtesy Ishant's 5-fer. He was ably supported by his fellow pacers, Shami and Yadav. The performance was dominant that the spinners got to bowl just one over.

DROPPED! What has Al-Amin Hossain done here? If history remembers, you cannot drop Rohit Sharma. Remember his 264 in an ODI against Sri Lanka, he was dropped on 4 and then went on to play a innings which is yet to be broken. Short of a length delivery on middle, Rohit plays his favourite shot and times it well. Al-Amin is stationed at deep square leg for that very reason. He settles under it and makes a complete hash of it. Will this come back to haunt them?

FOUR! India are off the mark in style. Mayank does not wait for long. Good length ball outside off, Mayank is to quick pounce on it and he slashes it through point for a boundary. The form that this man is in, he will not miss out on those.
So with just 106 on the board. It will take some miraculous effort from Bangladesh to get back in this Test. The Indian players will be more than happy with their efforts and are comfortably in the driver's seat. Join us in a while as the Indian openers walk out to bat with the lights starting to take over at this jam-packed Eden Gardens.
Nothing much to talk about Bangladesh's batting. They have once again surrendered without much fight. Only Shadman and Liton showed some grit. Luck too did not go their way as just when Das was looking good, his participation in the game was unfortunately cut short due to concussion. They will be more disappointed as they failed to make even India bowl under proper lights.
Another brilliant performance from India. The spinners bowled a combined total of just 1 over because the pacers were brilliant with the ball. The trio were excellent with the ball. Ishant led the way with 5 while Umesh and Shami had 3 and 2 wickets each. All-in-all the Indian pacers were just too good for the visitors. Special mention for Wriddhiman Saha as he was brilliant behind the stumps and saved a lot of runs.
A 5-wicket haul for Ishant. He leads his side off the field, carving his name in the history books by becoming the first Indian bowler to get a 5-wicket haul in a Day-Night Test.

We are back for the second session! Nayeem Hasan is coming out to bat? Who will it be along with him? Will it be Liton Das or someone else? It is Ebadot Hossain who joins Nayeem out in the middle. The Indian players are also making their way out to the middle. Ishant Sharma will finish his over.
... Day 1, Session 2 ...
Just like the first Test, Bangladesh struggled after opting to bat. Three ducks amongst the top 5 batsmen makes it obvious that they have had a nightmare. Only Shadman and Liton looked good. The former departed after a good start. The real cause of concern for Bangladesh is Liton who has also departed due to concussion. They will hope that he is fine to bat after the break as they do not have many options on the bench. What will happen? Join us after the break to find out.
Pink ball or red ball, it does not matter to this Indian fast bowling unit. Another Test and another session dominated by the Indian pacers. They were off colour at the start but have gotten better as they got the better grip of this pink ball. Umesh, Ishant and Shami all got into the wickets column, with 3, 2 and 1 respectively. Just a solitary over of spin in this session. Also a special shout-out for Wriddhiman Saha who has had to face the real challenge with the pink ball but he has been magnificent behind the stumps. Not just picking up a stunner but also saving runs.
Oh no! Not good news this. Liton Das is showing symptoms of concussion here and the umpire has called for the physio. He seems to be a bit dizzy. Though Liton has looked very good he should not continue as nothing is more important than health and a blow to the head can be very dangerous. Liton is walking off and so are the players. That will be Lunch on Day 1.

OUT! Caught! Beautiful delivery from Umesh. Hardly anything Shadman could do. Bangladesh have half their side back in the hut now. Good length ball around off, Shadman is in two minds whether to play at it or not. He decides to have a poke at it. The ball shapes away and tickles the outside edge. It goes straight to Saha. He will not drop those even in his sleep. Half the side back in the pavilion. 100th Test dismissal for Wriddhiman Saha. Join quickest for India to achieve this feat for India along with Dhoni. OUT! Caught! Rohit Sharma has taken a stunner here! Good length ball around off, it shapes away at the last moment. It is in the channel of uncertainty. Mominul looks to defend but gets a thick outside edge. It goes between first and second slip. Rohit Sharma at second slip dives to his right and takes a superb one-handed catch. Had he not dived, one would feel it would have gone straight to Kohli but as they say if you feel like it is your catch at slip then you should go for it. That is exactly what Rohit has done here. Done and Dusted with the national anthems. Bangladesh Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina and Bengal Chief Minister, Mamta Banerjee ring the bell. The Indian players are in a huddle before they take their respective positions in the field. Shadman Islam and Imrul Kayes walk out to the middle to become the first openers to open the innings for Bangladesh in Day/Night Test. Ishant Sharma will have the honors to be the first bowler to bowl with the pink ball for India. Shadman Islam will face the first ball.
Both set of players along with the umpires and the match referee walk out to the middle for their national anthems. We are very close from the historic Test to begin!
Indian coach Ravi Shastri is down for a quick interview with Laxman Sivaramakrishnan. Ravi Shastri says that they have not played this too often so it will be a wait and watch game. Tells the biggest challenge is how the pink ball will behave. Feels that the biggest challenge is that it should have the challenges of proper Test cricket. On the ball, he says that it is a bit heavier and one will have to keep their eyes on the ball till the very end. On how he manages the current team, he says there is a wealth of talent and it is harder now as it is difficult to find a way to get them in the Playing XI. Shastri says that the players in the Playing XI cannot take their place for granted as there is someone ready to take their place.
India (UNCHANGED PLAYING XI) - Mayank Agarwal, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(C), Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Wriddhiman Saha(WK), Umesh Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma.
Bangladesh (PLAYING XI) - Shadman Islam, Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque(C), Mohammad Mithun, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Liton Das(WK), Nayeem Hasan (IN PLACE OF MEHIDY HASAN), Abu Jayed, Al-Amin Hossain (IN PLACE OF TAIJUL ISLAM), Ebadot Hossain.
Indian skipper, Virat Kohli says that even he would have batted first as the pitch looks good. Though Kohli thinks that it is not a bad thing though as the new pink ball will do something in the start. Adds that there is something underneath the surface and feels that the ball will do something later on as well. On what are the challenges, Kohli says they have to be very precise and thinks all the bowlers and fielders need to be more alert especially in the first hour. On what it means to be part of this history, he says that it is a responsibility and feels proud as a lot of legends have played before them and it is a proud moment for him and the team.
Mominul Haque, the Bangladesh skipper says they will bat first. Goes on to say that the wicket is on a drier side and that's why they are looking to bat first. Adds that it is a very good decision to bat first. Further says that playing a pink ball Test is a very good feeling and his friends and family are there to watch the game. Says that there are two changes for them.
TOSS - We are all set for the iconic moment as both the captains walk out to the middle for their first ever toss in a Day-Night Test. Indian skipper, Virat Kohli has the special coin in hand. Up it goes and it comes down in favour of Mominul Haque. BANGLADESH OPT TO BAT.
PITCH REPORT - Deep Dasgupta is the pitch analyst for the day and he is down now for the pitch report. Further says that there is a bit of grass and it is a bit dry. Dasgupta says that it might be a bit dry keeping dew in mind. Deep insists that it will be dry especially in the first innings. Reckons the team winning the toss should bat first.
Welcome to the 2nd and final test between India and Bangladesh. A historic Test at an iconic venue. The much talked about pink ball makes its entry in India. Both sides enter pastures new as they make their debut in Day-Night Test. The hosts would look to continue their dominance and inflict another whitewash in Tests. Unsure of how much factor dew will play, it will be interesting to see whether India go for their tried and tested formula of 2 spinners at home or will they remove one of them. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will have to be at their brilliant best it they are to surprise the cricketing world. It will be interesting to see whether or not they make any changes to their side after a horror show at Indore. In a filled Eden Gardens, can the Bangla Tigers roar so loud that it makes everyone else silent or will India continue their dominance?
