So, that's it from this match. Perth Scorchers keep their hopes for a semi-final spot well alive. They move to the 4th spot in the points table. Hobart, they were already out of contention but would have fancied to bow out with consolatory win which did not happen here. But, hang on, as match 52 is about to get underway shortly. That will be played between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades. A must-win game for the former, while the latter is out of contention. Will that sway in Sixers' favour though? Switch tabs shortly to find out...
Sophie Devine is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. She says that it was tough to stay out of the game for a while. Adds that it was easier to bat with Mooney on the other end. Tells that they just focused on the win. Mentions that she had to prove her fitness before the game. Ends by saying that they have got a tough next game but they are ready to take on the challenge.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Perth Scorchers Women opted to bowl. They were exceptional throughout, taking wickets at regular intervals. But Emma's handy knock towards the end, brought about a fairly respectable total for an otherwise crumbling Hobart batting. In the end though, that was just not enough as Perth's opening duo of Devine and Mooney just steamrolled the Hurricanes bowling to cruise to an easy win. A much-needed one for Devine's women, coming in a splendid manner.
Nothing much to speak about for the Hurricanes' bowlers. They were not so good in the field, allowing extra runs to be sneaked in off overthrows. A catch off Devine was put down towards the end of the innings, but by then, Perth had nearly coasted home. Vakarewa bowled just 5 balls and walked away after injuring herself. That cost Hobart too as none of the bowlers could step up to the challenge. Amy Smith was absolutely hammered. So were the rest. Only Jensen was economical but she could not manage any wickets. Which is what Hurricanes badly needed. But that was not to be and they lost it completely.
Perth Scorchers Women's batswomen were never ever tested at all. No sweat broken. The opening partnership between Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney was exceptional. The skipper was fantastic, with Beth Mooney giving good support from the other end. She largely played second fiddle to Devine but did that job well too. The opening duo finished the task with ease in the end.
Sophie Devine, you have put on a show we all admire! Well done to Mooney too, 48 runs from 36 balls. Sophie Devine has been very crucial to her team's fortunes in the previous games and she has proved it once again, in this must-win encounter. What a fantastic win for Perth Scorchers Women! A massive day!

Shortish and on middle and leg, Mooney sweeps it down to fine leg for one. Moves to 48. Will she get a chance to get to her half ton?

Short again, outside off. Sophie looks to slam it down to long on but fails to time it perfectly. A single as the ball goes to long on.

Put down! A straightforward chance but its been that kind of evening for the Hurricanes. Tossed up and outside off, Devine lifts it towards long off. The fielder there moves to her right a bit and gets to the ball. She gets both hands as well but fails to hold on. The batters take a single.

A single for her! Shortish and just outside off, pulled down to deep mid-wicket for one.

Short and outside off, Devine swipes it to long on and gets to the other end. Mooney is just 6 away from her half ton. She would like to get to that mark.

Goes for the slog sweep this time. Drags it down to deep square leg for a run. 15 off the over and the Scorchers need just 12 to seal the deal.
