The skipper Tamim Iqbal joins his team to lift the trophy and began the celebrations in Harare. Bangladesh have sealed the series in style.
Tamim Iqbal, Man of the Match says that he is delighted to contribute to the team. Says that it was a good wicket and they bowled well in the last 3 overs. Adds that keeping the World Cup in mind we had to chase this total. Mentions that he will not be a part of the T20I series due to an injury. Ends by wishing Eid Mubarak to everyone back home.
Shakib Al Hasan, Player of the series, says, It was always good to contribute to the team and always special to win against Zimbabwe in their own den. Says that the pitch was good to bat and he missed out on an opportunity today. Adds that in T20, they have to turn up to win the series.
Brendan Taylor is up for a chat. He says there are a lot of positives to take back from this series and will be ready for the upcoming series against Ireland. Says Raza came back from the injury and played an incredible knock. Ends by saying he wanted to give the ball to Blessing Muzarabani but Donald Tiripano was able to strike today. Also says Nurul Hasan took the game away from them.
...Presentation time...
Not a good start with the ball for the hosts, they had their moments in between but could not capitalize on it. Zimbabwe found the first breakthrough in the 14th over, as the spinner Wesley Madhevere drew the first blood. The pacers weren’t disciplined with the ball in the Powerplay 1, as they did not trouble the batsmen at all. But during the middle overs, Luke Jongwe came to the party and skittled out Shakib Al Hasan. It was then Donald Tiripano who struck twice in two deliveries. First, it was Tamim Iqbal who got trapped followed by the dismissal of Mahmudullah. Wesley Madhevere came back in the end to take one more wicket. The rest of the bowlers probed good lines and lengths but never got rewarded for their effort. Not the end the hosts were looking for.
The Tigers have chased down the target of 299 successfully. Bangladesh started off solidly with the help of their skipper Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das. But the latter had to depart due to a miscued sweep hit. Shakib Al Hasan was also sent back with just 30 runs to his name. It was all about Tamim Iqbal as he went onto score a century. But soon after he got off to Donald Tiripano and in the next delivery itself, Mahmudullah had to depart on a golden duck. Right, through the innings whenever they were put on the back foot, they managed well to recover quickly and get back on the driving seat. This time, it was the clumsy innings of Mohammad Mithun along with the power-hitter Nurul Hasan who build an important partnership to take their side well within the reach of the target. Afif Hossain’s small cameo, in the end, helped Bangladesh complete the whitewash and end the series with a 3-nil win.
So, Bangladesh won the game by 5 wickets, as they make complete use of this batting pitch in Harare to seal the series 3-0 and have made the clean sweep over Zimbabwe. They have also added 10 more points to the World Cup Super League table. The hosts fought till the end but it just wasn't their day with the ball today.
