That is it from this series! Bangladesh players hold and pose with the trophy. The first Test between Bangladesh and West Indies will begin on 3rd February, 2021. Do join us for that at 1000 local (0400 GMT). Till then, take care and cheers!
Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh skipper, says it has been a fantastic series for them. Praises the effort of the boys after coming back to International cricket after 10 months. He says living in a bubble is not a great feeling but they have to cope with it due to the pandemic. Also says that staying in a bubble for a long time is not good for a player. Also adds they wanted one of the batters to get a hundred today but is still happy with the efforts of the players. He says he is very pleased by the efforts of the fast bowlers. He adds they have a good bench strength now of fast bowlers and there is a healthy competition between them.
Man of the Series Shakib Al Hasan credits his coaching staff and the teammates for backing him after a long lay off from International cricket. Says he became confident as the series went on. Also adds that their bowling set up is very good and each of the bowlers complement each other. He says he needs to assess himself as he has injured his groin in the match.
Man of the Match, Mushfiqur Rahim says he is very satisfied with the way he has scored the runs. Credits bowlers for their performance throughout the series. He says he missed cricket for the last 10-12 months and is happy with their clinical performance in the series. Says he looks forward to the Test series and expects a good challenge from the West Indies in Tests.
Jason Mohammad, West Indies skipper, says they were not good in the match. They didn't bowl well and the batting too didn't come good. Says playing the spinners was always challenging for their batters in the series. He says they will look to improve their batting. Praises Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein for their performance in the series.
Bangladesh were clinical right from the first match of the series as they did not allow West Indies to even play their full quota of 50 overs in the first two matches. They chased down the target of 122 and 149 in the first two matches very easily with absolute no contest from the West Indies. Stay tuned for the presentations to find out who is the Man of the Match and Man of the Series.
Earlier in the day, West Indies won the toss and put Bangladesh into bat. The Bangladesh batsmen were brilliant throughout as 4 of their batters completed their half centuries. Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the bowlers for the West Indies but a target of 298 was always going to prove difficult for them.
Bangladesh bowling was good throughout the innings. Mustafizur got the early breakthroughs as he finished with 2 wickets. Spinners Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan strangled the West Indies middle order and reaped rewards for the same. Mehidy finished with 2 wickets. Saifuddin and Taskin bowled good line and lengths, both of them taking 3 wickets between them. All-in-all it was a complete bowling performance from them.
Chasing a target of 298, the Windies required a good start, but they were not able to get that as they lost two quick wickets early. Skipper Mohammed and Bonner got a bit of partnership going but both were sent packing by Mohammad Saifuddin. Rowman Powell tried his best by hitting a few big shots but the scoreboard pressure and the lack of partners at the other end saw the Windies fall short by a huge 120 run margin.
Bangladesh have completed a 3-0 whitewash of the West Indies here at Chattogram with a convincing 120-run win. They have been clinical right from the start with both bat and ball and have completely outperformed the men from the Caribbean.
