That's all from this Test match. The series ends 1-1 and it's a great result as far as Bangladesh are concerned as they gained a lot of confidence and positives for future along with vital points for the ICC World Test Championship, 2021-23. Plenty of cricketing action is going on, do visit the fixtures page and enjoy our coverage. Cheers!
Mominul Haque, the captain of Bangladesh, says that they were really happy with the first Test but are disappointed here. Mentions that it was challenging for them to keep up the momentum. Feels that one needs to have a good mindset while playing overseas. Tells that they still have some positives despite losing this Test. Credits Liton Das for his knock and says that when he was batting, the pitch didn't look difficult to bat.
Devon Conway is adjudged the Player of the Series! Says that he is happy with how the series went. Mentions that he had to contribute day in and day out. Tells that one had to adjust to the game plans. Says that it was nice to build a partnership with Tom Latham. On Ross Taylor, he says that Rosco has played so many Test matches and has an enormous amount of knowledge of the game. Adds that Taylor is a great bloke to be around and they will miss him very much.
The Kiwi skipper, Tom Latham, is also the Player of the Match. Says that they entered this Test match 0-1 down and needed to correct a few mistakes. Feels that the partnerships in the first innings helped them. On being a part of history by taking the catch off Taylor's bowling, Latham smiles and replies that he never felt more pressure while taking a catch. States that they had the advantage of knowing the conditions better than anyone and they put up a perfect performance. Further says that New Zealand have played well on different kind of pitches in the recent past and also credits Bangladesh for the way they fought in this series. Signs off by saying that it won't be the same without Ross Taylor, in the team and in the slip cordon.
Ross Taylor is delighted to finish off his Test career with a win and with a wicket. Admits that Bangladesh put them under a lot pressure several times and feels that it's a fair result to this series. Praises the batting and bowling of his side and also appreciates the way they bounced back after the last defeat. With tongue in cheek, Rosco says that he was worried about coming back tomorrow (Day 4) and doing the warm-up drills. Mentions that he is proud to represent his country and tells that it's a great way to finish.
Farewell Rosco! This Test also marked the end of an era in New Zealand cricket as Ross Taylor played his last in whites. The icon of NZ cricket surpassed Stephen Fleming in his final Test match and joined Daniel Vettori to become the country's most-capped Test cricketer. If the renaissance of New Zealand cricket is credited to Brendon McCullum, one must remember Taylor's contribution, both as the leader and the star batter of the team. He played many great knocks in his 16-year old career but the standout one has to be his innings against Pakistan in the 2011 World Cup which earned him the tag of the Pallekele Plunderer. Rosco made it a habit of sticking his tongue out while celebrating a ton and we still remember how he stuck his tongue out twice after reaching his double ton in 2015 against Australia. Not just his batting, the Black Caps are going to miss those bucket-hands in the slip cordon as well. Luteru Ross Poutoa Lote Taylor signs off from Test cricket and he will put a full stop to his illustrious international career after the ODI series against Australia and Netherlands. Enjoy it while it lasts. Here he is having a quick word.
New Zealand would be relieved to level the series. It was a hurtful loss for them in the first Test where they got outplayed by a very clinical Bangla unit. That defeat came as a huge surprise but the Kiwis didn't take long to prove that it was just an aberration. Skipper Tom Latham led from the front with a masterful double century while Devon Conway continues to take giant strides. He stroked a delightful century to become the first player in the history of Test cricket to start the career with 5 fifty-plus scores in the first 5 games. Their knocks combined with some impactful pace bowling handed them a commanding 395-run lead and despite Bangladesh fighting hard on Day 3 after being asked to follow-on, the result was never in doubt. It turned out to be a special game for Trent Boult who joined Tim Southee, Daniel Vettori and Sir Richard Hadlee in an exclusive club of New Zealand cricketers to take 300 Test wickets. A special mention for Liton Das who showed a lot of courage and stroked a fantastic century, albeit in a losing cause.
One swallow doesn't make a summer, that phrase aptly describes the situation of Bangladesh. Without any shade of a doubt, the Bangla Tigers punched above their weight to upset the Kiwis in the first Test but after scaling the height of Mount Maunganui, Bangladesh fell in familiar abyss. They missed a golden chance of registering a Test series win on NZ soil by putting out an abysmal bowling and batting show. The touring team will be regretting at the moment but still, there will be a sense of pride in sharing the trophy on the foreign land, especially in Tests.

OUT! Goosebumps, Rosco has a fairytale end to his Test career, a fitting end, the crowd has gone bonkers. A tossed up delivery, outside off, Ebadot attempts to heave it over the leg side but only manages a top edge. Latham runs across a bit to his left and dives to complete the catch at mid-wicket. Ross celebrates with a big smile and is mobbed by his teammates. NEW ZEALAND WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 117 RUNS.
