Ashton Agar the new victim of Corona

  • The coronavirus has struck the Australian team camp hard
  • After Josh Inglis, bowler Ashton Agar and team physio have also tested positive for the virus.
  • This has left the management to select the team from only 13 players

The coronavirus continues to haunt the Australian players and the new victim is Australian bowler Ashton Agar. He is the second player of the lot to have tested positive for the virus after Josh Inglis. The team physiotherapist Brendan Wilson also returned a positive test while the other players and staff were found to be negative.

The yellow caps ODI squad has suffered a number of blows ever since stepping foot in Pakistan. First Steven Smith was ruled out following an elbow injury. Then, all-rounder, Mitch Marsh got a hip-flexor injury during training on Monday. Swepson was named in place of Smith while Matt Renshaw has been flown in from Queensland as a batting substitute but will only be available after undergoing a three-day isolation period. All the injuries and virus outbreaks have caused the Australian camp to shrink and the management is left with only thirteen players to choose a playing XI from.

The last time Agar featured in ODI’s was in July last year against West Indies. He was also the part of Test squad but did not make it to the final 11. The three-match ODI series against Pakistan will commence today in Lahore which will host the rest of the series including one T20I which will be played on 5th April.
