UPDATE - 8.59 pm IST (3.29 pm GMT) - The match has been abandoned! This was on the cards, the rain stopped for a bit, but it came back again just went the umpires were getting ready for the pitch inspection and another game in the Hundred has been called off due to heavy rains.

UPDATE - 8.13 pm IST (2.43 pm GMT) - Great news, folks! The rain has stopped! The covers are firmly on though but the good thing is that the groundstaff has started their cleaning up process. The drainage system here at Edgbaston is pretty good and there is now a high possibility of a shortened game. Hopefully rain stays away now. Also, we will have a pitch inspection at 8.45 pm IST.

UPDATE - 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) - It is still raining at Edgbaston! The latest we can start is 9.12 pm IST (3.42 pm GMT) for a 25-balls-per-side game. Currently, there are quite a few puddles on the ground but there is still some time before we start losing hope. Let's be positive and hope for the best!

UPDATE - 7.10 pm IST (1.40 pm GMT) - We are 10 minutes past the scheduled start and there is still no indication of the rain subsiding. We seem to be in for a long wait as the start of the game has officially been delayed. We will not lose hope yet though as we know how unpredictable England conditions can be so stay tuned for more updates.

UPDATE - 6.25 pm IST (12.55 pm GMT) - The weather looks pretty grim and the covers are firmly in place as the rain continues to fall steadily. We will definitely have a delayed toss but till the showers do not subside, talk of an anticipated start time will be futile. We have our fingers crossed in the hope to see some action. Stay tuned for further updates.

Trent Rockets Women lost against Southern Brave Women on the opening day of the competition as they were unable to chase down a mammoth total and fell short by 27 runs. Their bowlers did chip away at the wickets but were far too expensive which left the batters an uphill task to climb. Natalie Sciver-Brunt led from the front with the bat but despite her best efforts, they succumbed to a loss due to the failure of their star-studded line-up. Birmingham Phoenix Women will be the home side and they will want to use that advantage to get a winning momentum going against a side that seems to be struggling themselves. They clashed against Northern Superchargers Women in their opening fixture and a poor batting performance condemned them to a 7-wicket loss with 22 balls to spare.
