PSL 9: Quetta Gladiators name new captain

Quetta Gladiators are gearing up for Pakistan Super League (PSL 9) with a significant change in leadership as Rilee Rossouw steps in to replace Sarfaraz Ahmed as the team’s captain. Franchise owner Nadeem Omar confirmed Sarfaraz’s decision to step down from the captaincy just a day before the tournament’s commencement.

Sarfaraz, who led the Gladiators to victory in 2019 and guided them to three finals, has been an integral part of the team’s journey. However, the Gladiators have shown their support for the new leadership under Rossouw’s captaincy.

In addition to the change in leadership, the Gladiators have made notable additions to their squad, welcoming the experienced Mohammad Amir, who has recently parted ways with the Karachi Kings. Moreover, the team has traded Naseem Shah to Islamabad United, showcasing their commitment to strategic squad building.

The Gladiators’ squad for PSL 9 includes a mix of local and international talent, with players like Jason Roy, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Mohammad Wasim Jr. joining the ranks. With a balanced team composition, the Gladiators are poised to make a strong statement in the upcoming season.

Their journey kicks off with an opener against Peshawar Zalmi on February 18th. The anticipation is high as PSL 9 is set to commence on February 17th across four cities: Karachi, Multan, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with Lahore Qalandars facing Islamabad United in the opening clash. As the Gladiators gear up for their campaign, fans eagerly await to see how the new leadership and squad dynamics unfold in the quest for PSL glory.
