A world-class player, Babar Azam once again proved his talents with great form, playing a constructive inning and rising himself in the world of cricket.
Babar Azam, on the second day of the first Test match against Sri Lanka, which was being held at Galle International Stadium on Sunday on the 17th of July, scored an aggressive 119 runs uprooting the spin attack of Prabath Jayasuriya, which helped Pakistan to overcome the host’s big lead being left out to only four runs short of the first target.
Yasir Shah, Hasan Ali and Naseem Shah, these low-order batsmen showcased outstanding teamwork with the skipper adding up 133 runs altogether within the last three wickets left. Babar Azam came out and scored a massive 119 runs making another record for the most centuries as a Pakistani captain like Imam-ul-Haq, who now stands together with him in having nine centuries in total.
Babar Azam received a great compliment from the legend Shahid Afridi for his exceptional performance for the Pakistani team. He tweeted by saying:
“Babar once again proving his stature with a great inning under immense pressure! Great support by Naseem, Pakistan, right back in the match. Shaheen and the rest of the bowlers have it in them to restrict SL to a low total and set up a win. Great game to watch!”
Babar kept on fighting to get a lead, but with four runs short, Pakistan’s first innings ended as soon as spinner Mahesh Theekshana took up the wicket of Azam with an lbw ball. Thus, team Pakistan ended up scoring 218 runs in return for Sri Lanka’s 222.
